How To: Install TAKETWO Carbon V1 Front Lip on your FL5 Type R.
Tools & supplies needed:
- Trim removal tool

- Option 1. Heavy duty automotive grade double sided tape. Option 2. Self tapping screws x8
- Philips head screwdriver
- Microfiber cloth
- Isopropyl alcohol or other cleaning solution
- Drill and large drill bit
- A friend to help out
Steps:
1. Ensure that all contact areas between front bumper and lip are clean. We use isopropyl alcohol to clean the surface, along with a microfiber cloth.
2. Jack up the front of the car or drive onto ramps. Remove all trim clips on the underside of the front bumper. There are 7x Honda trim clips and 1x Philips head trim screw.
Above: Honda OEM trim clips. These can be tricky to remove and a proper trim removal tool is required.
There is a single Philips head on the LHS of the car.
3. As the lips are hand crafted, sometimes the mounting positions on the lip are too small to fit the trim screws. These can be drilled out larger to fit the trim clips using a hand drill and a drill bit large enough to allow the trim clip to slide in.
4. Option 1: Double Sided Tape:
Please note that using double sided tape may result in sagging over time, especially in hotter areas. For ideal results, use heavy duty automotive grade tape.
Install double sided tape along contact areas as shown below:
Peel back the corners of the double side tape, enough so you can see it from the outside when the lip is installed. Fit the lip to the front bar. This will require two people to get the fitment spot on.
Option 2: Self Tapping Screws:
Hold the lip up to the front bumper and mark locations for 8x self tapping screws. Drill 8x locating holes in the lip, in the positions marked. Insert the OEM Honda trim clips and 1x Philips screw into the mounting points on the front lip and fit the lip to the front bar. This will require two people to get the fitment spot on. Install the self tapping screws through the lip into the front bumper.
6. If using double sided tape, peel back the tape and hold in position with painters tape. Recommended to leave for 24 hours before driving to ensure a good seal.
